Fans of the popular television series Beverly Hills, 90210 are mourning the loss of actress and former beauty queen Kimmarie Johnson, who has died at the age of 50.

Johnson was known for her work in television, film, and modeling. She also made history in the beauty pageant world before pursuing opportunities in Hollywood.

According to a family member who spoke with People, Johnson passed away following a medical emergency involving her heart at her Los Angeles home on October 27. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors identified a serious heart-related condition.

Her niece, Rhonda Scott, remembered her as someone who brought happiness to the people around her.

Scott shared that Johnson had a special ability to brighten people’s lives and that her positive personality would be deeply missed by family and friends.

Her Appearance in Beverly Hills, 90210

Johnson became part of television history when she appeared in an episode of the popular drama Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1998.

She portrayed a character named Judy, adding another memorable credit to her growing entertainment career.

The series was one of the most recognizable television dramas of its era, and her appearance remains part of her professional journey.

However, Johnson’s path to Hollywood began several years before her television debut.

Making History at Miss Pennsylvania USA

In 1992, Johnson entered the Miss Pennsylvania USA competition.

Despite having no previous experience in beauty pageants, she competed against 92 other contestants and ultimately won the title.

Her achievement was particularly significant because she became the first African American woman to receive the Miss Pennsylvania USA crown.

Johnson later explained in an interview with the New Pittsburgh Courier that she had entered the competition almost unexpectedly.

She admitted that winning had never been her original expectation and that she initially viewed the experience as an interesting opportunity.

Her victory earned her a place in the 1993 Miss USA competition, where she finished among the top six finalists.

From Modeling to Hollywood

Following her pageant success, Johnson continued developing her career in entertainment.

In 1996, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue modeling and acting opportunities.

Her first credited acting appearance came in 1998 in Troy Byer’s film Let’s Talk About Sex.

She subsequently appeared in several other productions, including:

  • Dude, Where’s My Car?
  • Shadow Fury
  • Wanda at Large
  • Break a Leg
  • Tucker War

These projects allowed her to explore different opportunities across television and film.

Family Life and Motherhood

In 2003, Johnson welcomed her son, Cameron Nino.

Following his birth, she stepped away from acting for a period to concentrate on raising her child and enjoying family life.

During this chapter, she also attended classes at The Groundlings, continuing to develop her creative interests.

Her journey demonstrated that her life extended beyond her achievements in entertainment.

Remembering Kimmarie Johnson

Kimmarie Johnson’s story included several remarkable milestones, from making history in the Miss Pennsylvania USA competition to pursuing a career in Hollywood.

Although her appearance in Beverly Hills, 90210 introduced her to television audiences, those who knew her personally remember her for much more than her professional accomplishments.

Her family and loved ones are now reflecting on the memories they shared with her and celebrating the positive influence she had on those around her.

She leaves behind a legacy that includes her achievements in pageantry, modeling, acting, and, most importantly, her role as a mother and beloved family member.
