When Sarah arrives home after David’s funeral, she discovers Eleanor and several family members going through the condo. Chloe reaches for a mysterious blue folder, but a series of scheduled messages David arranged before his death warns Sarah not to let anyone remove it. Realizing the intrusion was planned in advance, Sarah contacts attorney Martin Bell instead of confronting them alone.
At Martin’s office, Sarah receives a handwritten letter from David revealing that Eleanor already knew his will existed. The blue folder contains records of fake companies, fraudulent property transfers, and an organization called Hayes Family Holdings that secretly links David’s relatives to decades of financial wrongdoing.
The records also uncover another company, Northbridge Asset Management, which controls numerous shell businesses worth millions. David had spent three years tracing hidden ownership structures before his illness, convinced the network was being used to conceal stolen assets. Eleanor appears throughout the transactions, but she claims she was acting under someone else’s orders.
A recorded conversation then reveals David confronting Eleanor about forged signatures dating back to when he was only nine years old. Eleanor admits she warned him to stop digging because dangerous people were connected to Northbridge. She also hints that David’s late father had discovered the same conspiracy years earlier.
When Sarah returns to the condo, police begin investigating a break-in after Eleanor takes David’s silver Omega watch. Rebecca discovers a concealed safe behind the bookshelf containing another identical Omega. Sarah realizes Eleanor stole a decoy while David had secretly protected the genuine watch along with the evidence hidden inside it.
Inside the safe, they also find a false passport identifying David as Daniel Hart, along with instructions for finding a man named Henry Vale by asking him a coded question.
Soon afterward, Eleanor’s abandoned vehicle is discovered, but the stolen watch is missing. Then Sarah receives a photograph taken the previous day that appears to show David alive.
Sarah obtains security footage from the funeral home and discovers something even more disturbing. The footage shows David, using the identity Daniel Hart, personally delivering another man’s body for burial. The transfer documents carry Daniel Hart’s signature, proving that the person buried under David’s name was actually someone else.
Finally, David contacts Sarah.
He admits that he staged his own death to protect the ownership key hidden inside the genuine watch — the only piece of evidence capable of revealing who truly controls Northbridge.
His cancer is real.
His remaining time is limited.
And now Sarah must finish the investigation and expose the truth that David was never able to reveal himself.
