At first, I wasn’t even sure what I was looking at.
Partially hidden beneath the wood was a pale, rounded object with a smooth, glossy surface. The damp soil around it made it appear even more unusual, and for a moment I simply stood there trying to figure out whether it was a plant, an insect, or something else entirely.

According to the information I found, older porches and wooden structures with moist ground underneath can provide a suitable environment for these larvae. While their appearance may seem unusual, they are generally considered a normal part of the outdoor ecosystem.
The discovery immediately put my mind at ease.
