They are most commonly found in parts of South America, especially in rainforest regions. I had never been anywhere near those environments, so the idea that something like this could appear in my car seemed almost impossible at first.<\/p>\n

But further reading explained how it can still happen in rare cases. Insects or their remnants can sometimes be transported unintentionally through imported goods, luggage, plants, or shipping materials. Even if the chances are extremely low, they are not zero.<\/p>\n

What made me even more cautious was learning that even shed skins can sometimes retain irritating or harmful microscopic spines. That was enough for me to stop guessing and start taking action.<\/p>\n

Calling in Professional Help<\/h3>\n

I contacted a pest control service that deals with unusual and potentially hazardous insect cases. They responded faster than I expected, which only added to my growing concern.<\/p>\n

When the technician arrived, I showed him the sealed bag. He immediately recognized the possibility and handled it carefully without hesitation. After a closer inspection under proper conditions, he confirmed what I had found was indeed consistent with a Lonomia species exoskeleton.<\/p>\n
